Reproducing, republishing, distributing, transmitting, publicly displaying, creating derivative works from, or using any content on truongatlanta.com for commercial purposes without prior written permission from the copyright holder is a violation of the law. Infringers may be subject to civil and criminal liability under federal law, with statutory damages of up to $150,000 per infringed work (17 U.S.C. § 504).
Fair Use
Truong Atlanta respects and applies the principle of Fair Use under Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 107). In producing content, we may use third-party material — including images, excerpts, charts, and reference materials — for the following legitimate purposes:
- News Reporting: Using material to illustrate and supplement analysis of current events, economics, and community affairs.
- Commentary & Criticism: Quoting material to facilitate commentary, review, and analysis of news, cultural, and social issues.
- Education: Sharing information to raise community awareness about political, legal, and everyday life issues in the United States.
When applying Fair Use, Truong Atlanta fully weighs the four legal factors as prescribed:
- Purpose and character of use: Content is used for non-commercial, journalistic, and educational purposes, with significant transformation (transformative use) — meaning the addition of commentary, analysis, or new perspective rather than mere copying.
- Nature of the original work: We prioritize quoting from widely published materials (public domain or widely published) and limit use of highly creative unpublished works.
- Amount and substantiality: Only a small and necessary portion of the original work is used — sufficient to serve the commentary or reporting purpose without substituting for the value of the original.
- Market effect: The use does not diminish the commercial value or potential market for the original work. We always attribute sources and link to original content where possible.
If you are a copyright owner and believe that use of your material on truongatlanta.com falls outside Fair Use, please contact us using the information at the bottom of this page or submit a formal DMCA notice following the process below.
Citation Guidelines
Truong Atlanta encourages sharing and quoting our content for informational and educational purposes. However, to ensure intellectual property rights are respected, any quotation must comply with the following conditions:
- Credit the source: Any content quoted from truongatlanta.com must clearly credit “Truong Atlanta (truongatlanta.com)” in a prominently visible location in the post.
- Include a direct link: A hyperlink pointing directly to the original article on truongatlanta.com must be included. The link must be do-follow and must not be hidden behind redirects or URL shorteners that obscure the source.
- Short excerpts only: Only a brief portion of the article may be quoted (maximum 25% of content or 300 words, whichever is less). Copying an entire article or the majority of an article without written permission is copyright infringement.
- No distortion of meaning: Quoted content must preserve its original meaning. Cutting, editing, or placing content in a context that alters the nature or intent of the author is prohibited.
- No unauthorized commercial use: Using Truong Atlanta's content for commercial purposes (advertising, marketing, sales) requires prior written permission. Contact [email protected] to discuss licensing arrangements.
