The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has issued a new announcement requiring all immigrant visa applicants to complete the online appointment registration process prior to their interview date.
According to the notice, this regulation officially takes effect on May 4, 2026.
The Consulate stated:
Registration must be completed at least 5 working days before the interview appointment,
and applicants who have not completed the registration will not be permitted to proceed with their immigrant visa interview.

According to the guidelines, this is not a step to select an interview date, but a mandatory procedure to:
confirm applicant information,
declare the address for passport and visa delivery,
and finalize the process before the interview.
Applicants generally need to prepare:
the HCM case number,
DS-260 confirmation number,
a valid passport,
a delivery address in Vietnam,
and a contact phone number.
Consular officials also recommend that applicants complete the process early to avoid:
processing delays,
system errors,
or impact on the scheduled interview time.
