A Spalding County deputy was arrested and is being held without bond following allegations of domestic violence.

According to the Spalding County Sheriff's Office, the suspect, Phillip Ramsammy, was arrested on Thursday after the agency received a report of law violations the previous day.

Sheriff Darrell Dix ordered an immediate internal investigation. Within four hours, the internal affairs division determined that a criminal investigation was warranted according to regulations.

Ramsammy was subsequently moved from an interview room to a jail cell.

  • Aggravated assault under the Georgia Family Violence Act
  • Cruelty to children in the 2nd degree
