The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the death of Nathan Murray Smith — known professionally as DJ Young Slade — was an accidental drowning in the context of psilocybin use.
According to information provided to FOX 5 Atlanta, the cause of death was recorded as “drowning in the setting of Psilocybin use.”
Smith's body was found on February 6 in a lake near his home at the intersection of Mayfield Road and Baldwin Drive in the city of Milton. He had previously been reported missing by his family on February 3 after leaving home around 6 a.m. without his phone.
Milton Police and various coordinating agencies conducted a search for several days before discovering the body.
DJ Young Slade was known as the son of hip-hop artist Lil Jon. After his body was found, his parents — Lil Jon and Nicole Smith — posted a statement on Instagram saying the family was “heartbroken” by the loss.
The case closed following the official conclusion from the medical examiner's office, which determined it was an accident with no signs of foul play.
