A man driving under the influence killed two pedestrians before crashing into a residence in North Hollywood, with the entire incident captured on camera.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified the suspect as 31-year-old Vidal Cruz Jr., who was driving a gray Acura when he struck two victims who had just stepped out of a Toyota Camry parked along the curb.
A man in his 30s died at the scene. A woman in her 50s passed away later at the hospital.
Following the initial impact, the vehicle continued forward, colliding with several vehicles parked in the residential area, then slammed into a car in a driveway and plowed through the wall of a house, leaving a massive hole.
Camera footage shows the crash occurred dangerously close to an area where people were sleeping inside the home.
Witnesses stated that the suspect showed no signs of panic and attempted to leave the vehicle as if nothing had happened, despite two people being killed.
The suspect was arrested shortly after. Los Angeles police confirmed the individual faces two counts of murder, with bail set at $4 million.
The incident has shocked the neighborhood, as the accident occurred right at their doorsteps—a place typically considered the safest.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the full details of the incident.
