A service technician at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Tennessee was arrested after allegedly taking a customer's vehicle without permission and driving it to a bar.
The incident occurred in the Collierville area of Tennessee.
According to police, the owner stated the vehicle had been left at the Mercedes-Benz of Collierville dealership for repairs since last month. Later, the tracking device on the Mercedes vehicle signaled unusual movement.
Police followed the signal and located the car at TJ Mulligan’s sports bar in the Memphis area.
The individual identified is Derrick Nguyen, a service technician at the dealership.
According to arrest records, police noted that the suspect appeared to be under the influence and refused to answer questions without an attorney.
The customer's car keys were also found on the suspect's person.
Derrick Nguyen was arrested and faces charges of theft of property valued between $10,000 and $60,000.
The car owner’s attorney stated that the dealership reportedly failed to take the matter seriously and claimed the employee is still working there.
