Foley, Alabama — On March 11, Foley police said a 13-year-old boy knocked out his intoxicated father after witnessing him strangling his mother during an argument at their home. According to local police and U.S. media reports, the father was identified as Daniel Hernandez-Lopez. The incident occurred Tuesday evening at the family's home in Foley, Alabama. Police said the boy discovered his father strangling his mother during an intense argument. After witnessing the scene, he attempted to stop it. According to initial reports, Hernandez-Lopez then rushed outside and tried to attack his son with a bicycle when the boy confronted him about the violent behavior toward his mother. In that situation, the boy punched his father repeatedly in the face, causing him to have two black eyes, a severely swollen lip, and potentially losing consciousness for a short time, according to police. Police stated that Hernandez-Lopez was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident and showed signs of potential substance use. The man was subsequently arrested and charged with domestic violence before being booked into the Baldwin County Jail.
