A traffic accident between a bus and a car occurred on the Manhattan Bridge in New York on the morning of March 6, injuring 16 people, according to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).
The collision occurred around 11:15 a.m. in the Manhattan-bound lanes on the lower level of the bridge.
Officials said one victim was seriously injured and taken to Bellevue Hospital. Four others were also taken to the same hospital with similar minor injuries following a bus-related collision.
In addition, another person was transported to NYU Langone–Tisch Hospital with minor injuries.
Emergency responders evaluated 10 other people at the scene; however, they refused to be taken to the hospital.
According to police, the most serious injury was a suspected broken leg, while another victim showed signs of a concussion following the serious traffic accident in NYC.
One of the drivers involved in the collision also suffered back and full-body pain after the impact.
The cause of the accident and the type of bus involved are still under investigation, especially as incidents of speeding drivers causing accidents are showing signs of an increase.
