A 3-year-old boy who was attacked with a knife at a Walmart in Nebraska has undergone surgery and is currently recovering with his family.
The victim was identified as Cyler Hillman, who suffered facial and hand injuries following the incident on the morning of April 14. Photos provided by the family show him receiving care, with stitches on his face and hands.
The family stated that his condition is stable and they expect a full recovery.
According to the Omaha Police Department, the suspect, 31-year-old Noemi Guzman, took a knife from the store, approached the child and his guardian, and then forced them to move to the parking lot area.
There, the suspect took control of the child. When authorities arrived, the individual continued to hold the knife and failed to comply with orders to drop the weapon.
Police said the suspect injured the child before being shot and neutralized at the scene.
The child was rushed to the emergency room with deep wounds on the left side of his face and on his hand.
The family calls him a “brave boy” and says they are focusing on providing care during his recovery phase.
The case continues to be investigated in accordance with regulations.
