Four Georgia State Patrol troopers have been fired following an investigation into attempts to obtain compensation from accidents that occurred during police pursuits.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, these officers shared accident and incident reports with an attorney.
The attorney then used these records to file insurance claims against the insurance providers of the pursued drivers.
The investigation concluded that this conduct violated professional ethical standards, leading to the decision to fire all four individuals.
The agency asserted that the actions of these individuals do not reflect the core values of professionalism and trust of the force.
The identities of the four troopers have not yet been released. Authorities have also not confirmed whether the attorney involved faces any action or if any insurance payouts were actually disbursed.
