An armed burglary suspect was apprehended early Monday morning after an intense search inside the ventilation system of a local business in DeKalb County, Georgia.
The arrest took place at Atlanta Fixtures and Sales, with charges including:
- Burglary
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Police also discovered the suspect had outstanding warrants in DeKalb County.
Incident Details
According to a Facebook post by the DeKalb County Police Department, the incident began when the business owner spotted someone on the roof via live camera feed and immediately called the police.
Upon arrival, officers observed signs of forced entry and tampering with the building's HVAC system.
DeKalb's K9 Unit, the STARR team, and fire department personnel were deployed to assist in the search.
Discovered in the Ventilation Duct
K9 Alex, along with officers using specialized equipment, tracked and located the suspect hiding inside the ventilation duct.
The individual was apprehended without further incident. Police recovered burglary tools and a firearm.

The police department commended the "excellent coordination and teamwork" among the units.
In an official statement, the agency said the arrest demonstrated the professionalism, coordination, and adaptability of DeKalb County officers.
The suspect's identity has not yet been released.
