Residents of an apartment building on East 214th Street in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx, New York City, say they have been living in fear for months because of a man who repeatedly causes disturbances, carries weapons, and exhibits erratic behavior within the building.

According to the New York Post and News 12 Bronx, police have identified the man as 28-year-old Anthony Orozco.

Videos recorded by residents show Orozco:

  • smashing a neighbor's apartment door with an axe,

  • roaming the hallways with a knife,

  • vandalizing security cameras,

  • and engaging in offensive behavior in common areas.

Several residents stated they no longer feel safe walking in the hallways alone.

The most serious incident occurred on April 4, when Orozco allegedly turned on all the gas burners in his apartment without lighting them, allowing gas to spread throughout the building.

According to neighbors, even after the fire department shut off the gas and ordered it to remain off, the man turned it back on and walked around the building smoking, causing residents to fear an explosion.

Since the incident, the entire building has been without gas for over a month.

Police reported:

  • On April 13, Orozco was arrested after using a stick to destroy a camera in front of an apartment door.

  • On April 29, he was arrested again for allegedly brandishing a metal rod and threatening a 44-year-old woman in front of her home.

Management stated that Orozco has not paid rent since January 2024. Eviction proceedings have been filed in housing court, but a formal eviction warrant has yet to be issued.

Many residents are now calling on New York authorities to intervene quickly to ensure the safety of those living in the building.
