Officials in Riverside County, California, are investigating a serious skydiving accident that occurred in the city of Perris on Thursday afternoon, leaving one person dead and another in critical condition.
According to Cal Fire-Riverside, emergency services received an urgent call in the area of East Ellis Avenue sometime before 2 PM.
Upon arrival at the scene, rescuers confirmed that one person had died at the scene. The second victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
Perris is known as a popular skydiving destination in Southern California, attracting numerous tourists and extreme sports enthusiasts annually.
