Police in Colorado are searching for a school secretary after she disappeared while under investigation for her involvement with a 13-year-old student.

According to investigative records, Brenda Meza, 34, who previously worked at Franklin Middle School, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship spanning several months with an 8th-grade student.

Information from authorities indicates that the two began communicating after the student found Meza's social media account during the Thanksgiving holiday. Subsequently, the pair met several times at various public locations.

Police stated that Meza also sent numerous messages expressing emotional attachment and exhibiting controlling behavior, including showing discomfort when the student spoke with classmates.

The incident was discovered after an anonymous tip was sent to the school on February 12. Immediately following this, Meza was suspended—similar to the case of an elementary teaching assistant sentenced to prison for abuse—and her contract was officially terminated on February 28.

According to testimony, Meza's husband contacted police after hearing his wife admit to inappropriate conduct. However, since the investigation began, Meza has left her residence and has not been found despite efforts by authorities to locate her.

Greeley police confirmed they have issued a warrant for her arrest. She faces 12 criminal charges, including counts related to conduct with a minor—reminiscent of the high school coach indicted on multiple felonies—and using the internet to target a victim.
