Southern California residents will soon have another low-cost fueling option as Costco prepares to open its first standalone gas station in the state.

The new station is located in Mission Viejo and is expected to open in late June. This is a standalone model, unlike previous locations that were attached to warehouses.

The facility spans over 17,000 square feet and features 40 pumps, serving customers from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

⛽ GAS PRICES AS A KEY FACTOR

Costco has long been famous for prices lower than the market, typically $0.05 to $0.40 cheaper per gallon than neighboring stations.

Amid gas prices in the Los Angeles area reaching approximately $5.71/gallon and Orange County at $5.69/gallon, this move has garnered significant attention from consumers.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE

Fuel at this station is only available to Costco members, following the chain's current model.

📊 EXPANSION TRENDS

In addition to California, Costco is also building a similar standalone gas station in Hawaii, expected to be completed in 2027.

This expansion highlights the high demand for competitive gas pricing models, especially during periods of sharply rising fuel costs.
