A new NBC News poll shows that the Democratic Party has lower favorability ratings than the Republican Party, President Trump, and even Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) among registered voters.

According to the survey of 1,000 voters, only 30% of respondents hold a positive view of the Democratic Party, while 52% hold a negative view. This results in a net favorability rating of -22.

Despite being low, this figure represents an improvement from March 2025, when the party's net rating had dropped to -28.

In the same survey:

  • President Trump has a net rating of -12 (41% positive, 53% negative)
  • The Republican Party has a net rating of -14 (37% positive, 51% negative)

Notably, despite frequent criticism from many Democratic politicians recently, ICE maintains a net rating of -18, which is higher than that of the Democratic Party.

The poll also revealed that among the 14 figures and organizations surveyed, only Iran had a lower rating, at -53 (8% positive and 61% negative).

Ratings for Democratic Figures

Several figures considered potential candidates for the 2028 presidential election received the following ratings:

  • California Governor Gavin Newsom: -18 (27% positive, 45% negative)
  • Former Vice President Kamala Harris: -17 (34% positive, 51% negative)
  • Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: -11 (31% positive, 42% negative)

Comparison with Republican Figures

  • Vice President JD Vance: -11 (38% positive, 49% negative)
  • Secretary of State Marco Rubio: -7 (34% positive, 41% negative)

Balance of Power in Congress

Despite their low favorability, Democrats still lead Republicans regarding preference for control of Congress, with:

  • 50% supporting the Democratic Party
  • 44% supporting the Republican Party

According to historical U.S. political data, in midterm elections, the party that does not control the White House typically gains seats in the House of Representatives.
