A dust explosion led to a “serious fire incident” Sunday afternoon at the Novelis plant in Greensboro, according to Greene County officials.
Authorities temporarily closed Willow Run Road for emergency response efforts. Video footage sent by residents to FOX 5 shows thick black smoke billowing from the plant area.
Officials stated the preliminary cause was a dust explosion within the manufacturing facility, which sparked the blaze. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
Investigation continues
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the extent of the damage. An assessment of the scene to determine the full impact is currently underway.
