A young man participating in Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale was subdued and handcuffed by authorities right on the street, as Florida officials ramp up control over partying, particularly involving minors.
Footage captured on the evening of March 18 shows the individual lying face down on the ground as police handcuff him before escorting him away. There is currently no official information regarding the reason for the arrest or any related charges.
Simultaneously, several areas in Florida reported scattered chaotic incidents, including brawls among participants and cases requiring on-site medical assistance.
In Daytona Beach, authorities have issued a week-long curfew for minors under 18. The regulation prohibits this age group from entering event areas without a legal guardian.
According to local police, this decision followed more than 80 arrests and four shootings in a single weekend. The controlled zone stretches approximately 2.5 miles along the coastline.
Various other locations across the state have also increased patrols during the peak Spring Break period to maintain order and curb out-of-control situations.
Data from the Miami Beach Police Department shows that the number of arrests has reached 168 cases, a decrease of about 20% compared to the same period last year.
