FLORIDA — A street interview at the University of South Florida campus has caught social media's attention after two students stated they were willing to move to Iran, prompting the interviewer to launch a fundraising campaign to buy them plane tickets.

The interview was conducted by Kaitlin Bennett, a conservative social media personality, as she asked students for their views on the airstrikes against Iran as well as conflicts between the U.S. and Israel.

In the video, Bennett asks whether Iran or the U.S. is "better for women." A nursing student criticized several political issues in the U.S., referencing the context of stalled Iran negotiations, and stated that women should have the right to choose where they live, including Iran.

When Bennett pressed further regarding the safety of women and LGBT individuals in Iran, the student argued that many people have misunderstandings about religion and Islamic societies, despite reports of Iranian students confronting government forces in Tehran.

Plane ticket offer

During the exchange, Bennett offered to buy one-way tickets to Iran for the two students so they could "experience the reality for themselves." Both agreed to the offer during the conversation.

Subsequently, Bennett's team set up a fundraising page on the GiveSendGo platform, with a goal of approximately $2,400 to purchase the tickets. According to the fundraising page, if the amount exceeds the goal, the remainder will be donated to a crisis pregnancy organization.

By the afternoon of March 4, the campaign had raised over $2,000.

Video goes viral on social media

The interview clip was posted on Bennett's media channels and quickly went viral on social media, sparking debate over students' political views while financial markets closely monitor international tensions.

Bennett first gained online fame in 2018 for posting a graduation photo at Kent State University with a rifle over her shoulder, at a time when Florida considered allowing armed volunteers to perform security duties.
