BANKS COUNTY, GEORGIA – A Hall County high school teacher and soccer coach is in custody and facing multiple felony criminal charges after being accused of inappropriate conduct involving a minor family member.

According to a February 20, 2026, FOX 5 Atlanta report, the Banks County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of Felipe Esteban Nunez at his Gainesville home on February 13.

Allegations Related to 2018-2019 Period

According to initial investigative findings, the victim reported that the incidents occurred between 2018-2019 at a home in Banks County, years before Nunez was hired by the Hall County school system.

Nunez currently faces serious charges including:

  • Rape
  • Aggravated Sexual Battery
  • Child Molestation

School District Places on Administrative Leave, Monitors Developments

Nunez was hired by the Hall County School District in 2024 to teach Spanish and coach the junior varsity boys' soccer team at Chestatee High School.

Following his arrest, the school district immediately placed Nunez on administrative leave pending the investigation's outcome.

In a statement, the school stated that there is currently no evidence indicating the incident involves any Hall County students. However, the district emphasized that it will closely monitor legal developments and take appropriate action.

The case remains under investigation by the Banks County Sheriff's Office.
