The High Museum of Art in Atlanta has announced the discovery of financial irregularities within the organization. According to information from the Woodruff Arts Center, these irregularities were first identified last December, prompting a large-scale investigation to protect the museum's assets and reputation.
Immediately upon discovery, the Woodruff Arts Center reported the matter to its Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. A special committee, along with an independent review firm, was established to determine the severity and scope of these illicit financial activities.
$600,000 Loss Identified and Related Parties
Results from the internal investigation confirm that the total misappropriated amount is approximately $600,000. Evidence gathered during the review has pointed to misconduct directly linked to Mr. Brady Lum, who served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the High Museum.
Mr. Brady Lum was suspended during the investigation and has now officially resigned from his executive position. To resolve the matter thoroughly, the Woodruff Arts Center Board of Trustees requested the law firm overseeing the review to transfer all case files to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office will now review the case files to make a decision regarding further criminal proceedings against the individual involved. The Woodruff Arts Center has not yet released additional details about the method by which the misappropriation was carried out or the specific timeframe during which these irregularities occurred.
