Two House Fires Monday Morning

Two separate house fires in DeKalb County on Monday morning put firefighters in a perilous situation as strong winds fanned the flames, making suppression efforts challenging.

Fire on Pinehurst Place

The latest incident occurred on Pinehurst Place. Fire officials confirmed two people were inside the home when the fire broke out; both escaped safely and were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, with no serious injuries reported.

The main fire was brought under control, but firefighters continued to remain on the scene early Monday morning, using water streams from a ladder truck to extinguish remaining hot spots.

Fire on Columbia Drive

Earlier, another fire occurred on Columbia Drive. Authorities reported no serious injuries in this incident. The American Red Cross was deployed to assist families displaced by both fires.

Wind Gusts Add Risks

Fire officials stated that morning wind gusts created additional risks for responders, making fire containment more complex.

The cause of both fires has not yet been determined. The incidents will be updated as new information becomes available.
