DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Multiple gunshots rang out at a packed beach in Daytona Beach during Spring Break, sending thousands of sunbathers into a panicked flight from the sand.
According to local police and WFTV Channel 9, at least 4 shootings have been reported in Daytona Beach since March 13, 2026, as large numbers of tourists and Florida students flocked to the city for the holiday.
In the incident on March 15, 2026, video shot from a hotel balcony captured the terrifying moment when sunbathers on the beach suddenly scrambled to flee as gunshots erupted.
Authorities said there was no clear information about the cause of the shooting and had not confirmed any injuries from the beach incident.
Earlier, on March 13, 2026, police reported a gunshot fired after a brawl broke out at Joint Bar, a bar near the beach area, similar to the case of a Florida man who chased and shot at an AT&T employee over a personal dispute.
About an hour later, a person was shot outside a nearby Crunch Fitness gym.
Additionally, police said two other shootings were also reported in the coastal area on March 15, 2026.
Law enforcement is currently investigating whether these incidents are directly related to tourist activities during Spring Break.
Some witnesses at the scene described chaotic scenes throughout the city as massive crowds of visitors descended during the holiday.
