Pressure is mounting on the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as prominent Democratic figures demand the public release of an analysis report on the party's 2024 election failure.
According to the New York Post, even former Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly expressed the view that this report should be made public.
After taking over as DNC Chair, Ken Martin requested a “postmortem”—a report analyzing the Democratic Party's failed 2024 campaign.
However, he decided to keep the document confidential for months, causing frustration among many Democrats.
According to the report, keeping the findings secret is seen as an attempt to avoid political disadvantages for Kamala Harris should she run for president in 2028.
Nevertheless, NBC News reported that Harris privately told donors she supports making the report public, although she has not yet spoken directly with Ken Martin about the matter.
Currently, Harris is still considered the leading Democratic candidate for the 2028 presidential race if she decides to run.
According to RealClearPolitics polling averages:
Harris leads California Governor Gavin Newsom by approximately 9.3 percentage points among Democratic voters.
Meanwhile, Senator Cory Booker has also publicly called for the DNC to release the report.
He said on the program “Meet the Press”:
“Yes, release that postmortem.”
However, Booker emphasized that the Democratic Party needs to focus on the future:
“The most important thing is that people are voting in record numbers.”
Post-election “postmortem” reports are a common tradition in American politics.
The Republican National Committee conducted a similar report following Mitt Romney's defeat in 2012.
According to the article, there is still much debate over the actual contents of the DNC report.
Some sources suggest the document addresses the negative reaction from progressive voters regarding the Biden administration's stance on the Israel–Hamas war.
Representative Ro Khanna once stated:
“Our failure to stop the war in Gaza cost the party support.”
Meanwhile, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel strongly criticized the decision to withhold the report:
“If we can’t handle an after-action report after spending $4 billion and losing, then we are like a T-ball team getting a participation trophy.”
The DNC has not yet responded to requests for comment from the New York Post.
