A teacher who worked for over 10 years at a prestigious private school in Los Angeles County has been arrested and faces multiple charges related to the abuse of minors.

Travis Takeshi Shojinaga, 39, is being held on $1 million bail. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office stated that the defendant is accused of taking sensitive photos of at least four female students and possessing child pornography. Authorities believe there may be additional victims.

Shojinaga was arrested on February 25, 2026, at Viewpoint School in Calabasas after being caught taking inappropriate photos of an 11-year-old student. The school announced it had fired an employee for “inappropriate behavior occurring on campus” and stated the incident did not involve physical contact.

District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman condemned the alleged actions, emphasizing that schools must be safe environments for students and calling on anyone with information to contact the authorities.

Shojinaga pleaded not guilty to the charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12 at Van Nuys Court. If convicted, the defendant faces a sentence of over three years in prison under current guidelines.

Head of School Mark McKee stated that the administration contacted the police as soon as the information was received, while cooperating with investigators and implementing psychological counseling support for students.

The investigation is ongoing.
