WOODSTOCK, Georgia — March 5, 2026

Law enforcement officers arrested Michael Warren Johnson after a multi-hour standoff with a SWAT team at a commercial area on Highway 92 near Interstate 575 in Woodstock.

The incident began as a domestic dispute and lasted nearly 13 hours, disrupting traffic in the area.

Domestic dispute leads to SWAT operation

According to police, the incident originated from a domestic dispute in Holly Springs at approximately 1 a.m. on March 5, 2026.

Holly Springs police later notified Woodstock police of Johnson's location at his place of business, located at 9504 Highway 92.

Johnson was wanted on a felony warrant in Cherokee County for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Suspect barricaded inside auto repair shop

When police arrived at the scene, Johnson refused to leave the auto repair shop where he was located.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., police stated that Johnson had threatened to harm himself and law enforcement, prompting authorities to deploy a SWAT team and supporting units.

After obtaining a search warrant, the SWAT team entered the building at 1:52 p.m. and took Johnson into custody.

Suspect taken for medical evaluation

Police stated that Johnson was intoxicated at the time of his arrest and cooperated with authorities, according to an Atlanta news report on March 5, 2026.

After being apprehended, Johnson was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation.
