Billionaire Elon Musk will accompany Donald Trump to China this week to attend a high-level meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to confirmation from U.S. officials.
This American business delegation brings together more than a dozen top leaders in the fields of technology, finance, and industry, including:
Apple – Tim Cook
Meta – Dina Powell McCormick
BlackRock – Larry Fink
Boeing – Kelly Ortberg
Goldman Sachs – David Solomon
Visa – Ryan McInerney
Mastercard – Michael Miebach
Qualcomm – Cristiano Amon
Micron Technology – Sanjay Mehrotra
Additionally, there are leaders from Blackstone, Citigroup, GE Aerospace, Cargill, and many other major corporations.
According to U.S. officials, the trip takes place as President Trump seeks to reduce the trade imbalance with Beijing while pushing for China to invest more heavily in the U.S. through large orders for aircraft, soybeans, and industrial goods.
Notably, the trip marks a continuing "thaw" in the relationship between President Trump and Elon Musk after a period of public tension in 2025.
At that time, Musk had called for the impeachment of President Trump, while Trump responded by declaring he would consider deporting the former leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
However, recently, the two have appeared together more frequently at events related to SpaceX and national technology programs.
Nevertheless, some major names in the tech industry are not participating in the trip, including Jensen Huang of NVIDIA. Cisco Systems CEO Chuck Robbins also declined to participate due to a scheduling conflict with the quarterly financial report announcement.
It is currently unclear which leaders will travel with President Trump on Air Force One.
