Omaha, Nebraska – April 24, 2026 (New York time) — A middle school teacher in Nebraska was arrested following allegations of using artificial intelligence to create hundreds of images containing child sexual abuse material, a case that has shocked the local community.

The suspect, Matthew Lund, 47, an employee at Andersen Middle School, was arrested at his home after authorities received an alert from Google regarding files uploaded to his work account.

According to prosecutors, investigators discovered 423 AI-generated images, more than 100 of which showed signs of serious violations involving young children. The suspect admitted to creating and storing this content during work hours.

The Nebraska State Patrol stated that there is currently no evidence to suggest that students at the school were directly involved in the incident.

The suspect faces charges of possession and distribution of child pornography. The court has set bail at $1 million.

The case is considered one of the first to apply Nebraska’s new law (which took effect in September 2025), under which the creation of AI child pornography is classified as a felony, carrying a maximum sentence of up to 50 years in prison.

Parents expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that the suspect had remained in the school environment undetected for a significant period.

The investigation is ongoing.
