BARTOW COUNTY, GEORGIA – A pedestrian was killed on the evening of February 19 after being struck by a tractor-trailer on northbound Interstate 75 near Exit 290 in the Cartersville area.

According to a FOX 5 Atlanta report on February 20, 2026, the Georgia State Patrol received a report of the accident around 8 p.m. at mile marker 290.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim was attempting to walk across the northbound lanes of I-75 when they were struck by a tractor-trailer in the middle lane.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic in the area was severely impacted while authorities conducted their investigation and processed the scene.

Victim's identity not yet released

Authorities stated that next of kin have been notified of the incident, but the victim's identity has not yet been publicly released.

Officials have not filed any charges against the tractor-trailer driver at this time.
