On March 17, 2026, a plane crash occurred at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, Missouri, claiming one life.
Rescue teams received the call around 3:40 a.m. and immediately arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, the aircraft was engulfed in flames on the eastern side of the airport.
St. Louis County Police confirmed the victim was the pilot—an adult male and the sole occupant of the aircraft. He had reportedly taken off earlier that night and was attempting to return to the airport when the crash occurred.
The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. There is currently no indication that anyone else was on board.
