WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump announced on June 13 that an agreement to end the conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran is expected to be signed on Sunday, June 14. According to him, immediately after the agreement is finalized, the Strait of Hormuz – the world's most vital oil transit route – will reopen for international maritime traffic.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump wrote that the agreement “is scheduled to be signed tomorrow” and emphasized that Iran will not possess nuclear weapons in any form, including development, purchase, or acquisition from a third party.

He stated that the agreement includes provisions to prevent Iran's nuclear weapons program, and expressed a desire for long-term cooperation with Tehran and the Middle East region if the peace process proceeds smoothly.

However, Iran has not yet confirmed the timeline provided by President Trump. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, stated on state television that the likelihood of finalizing a memorandum of understanding in the coming days is very high, but affirmed that the signing “will not take place tomorrow.”

Mediating sources, including Pakistani officials, indicated that the parties are preparing for an electronic signing ceremony and the process could take place in the very near future.

Conflict Background

According to information from FOX 5 Atlanta, a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran has been maintained since April 7, 2026, after weeks of conflict. Nevertheless, scattered missile launches, drone attacks, and airstrikes have occurred recently, increasing concerns about the risk of renewed conflict.

The military operation named Operation Epic Fury was deployed by the U.S. on February 28, 2026. Subsequently, Iran conducted retaliatory attacks against Israel and several Middle Eastern countries with a U.S. military presence.

In recent days, both Washington and Tehran have sent positive signals regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi previously declared that a deal “has never been closer,” while President Trump also shared this message on social media.

If successfully signed, this would be the first major turning point in efforts to end the months-long conflict in the Middle East, while also helping to alleviate pressure on global energy markets by restoring normal operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
