Negotiations between the United States and Iran "are still ongoing," U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday during a visit to India.

Earlier, Rubio told reporters in New Delhi: "We thought there might have been some news overnight. I wouldn't put too much stock into that. It takes time to get feedback." This statement was made before he departed to tour the Taj Mahal in the city of Agra.

Secretary of State Rubio said there was "a fairly solid proposal under consideration" regarding Iran's potential opening of the Strait of Hormuz and engaging in "important, time-bound negotiations on nuclear issues".

This potential deal has significant support from Gulf nations and globally, Rubio added. He reiterated that President Donald Trump "is in no hurry" and "will not sign a bad deal."

Rubio affirmed: "We will get a good deal, or we will have to deal with it in another way."

When asked if Lebanon was part of this agreement, Secretary of State Rubio said that negotiations with Israel and Lebanon were still ongoing.
