Sam Altman's home in San Francisco was targeted in a firebomb attack in the early hours of April 10, with a suspect apprehended by police shortly after.

Police received a report at 3:43 a.m. near the intersection of Chestnut and Jones Streets in the Russian Hill neighborhood. An incendiary device was thrown at the property located at 950 Lombard Street.

An OpenAI representative confirmed the property is owned by Altman and stated that there were no casualties. The individual also made threats against the company's San Francisco headquarters, an area already on edge following a previous attack on the mayor's security detail.

The mansion is situated on a hillside near the famous crooked section of Lombard Street. Altman purchased the property in 2020 for $27 million. The estate consists of two main residences along with a modern extension.

Inside, the home features an infinity pool overlooking the entire city, a private wellness center, and a tunnel-like garage entrance. The project was previously controversial due to architectural changes and building code violations during renovation, which led to outrage from local residents.

Sources within the tech investment community suggest the motive for the attack may be linked to concerns surrounding artificial intelligence. Many recent perspectives depict AI as a major threat to society, contributing to pressure and negative reactions amid the complex crime situation in San Francisco today.

The suspect's identity has not been released, evoking memories of another attack on a celebrity's private home that occurred in California. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
