Deadly Winter in Lake Tahoe

This winter in the Lake Tahoe area has seen a series of serious incidents. Also last week, a group of 15 backcountry skiers encountered a major avalanche near Lake Tahoe, resulting in 8 fatalities and one person still missing.

Nevada County Sheriff, Shannan Moon, confirmed this update on Wednesday, 24 hours after the avalanche was reported.

Officials continue to urge visitors to exercise maximum caution, especially when tackling advanced trails in harsh winter weather conditions.
