40,000 Spectators Flock to Marina Boulevard

Tens of thousands of people converged on Marina Boulevard last weekend for the Red Bull Showrun event, leaving streets in disarray, damaged trees, and affected homes. Local residents described the scene as "chaotic" and "poorly organized."

The event drew at least 40,000 spectators on Saturday. After it concluded, broken tree branches and shattered flowerpots were scattered across sidewalks; some garage doors and windows were damaged. Videos on social media showed crowds climbing traffic signs, trees, and even residential rooftops to find a vantage point due to a lack of tiered grandstands.

Property and Living Spaces Invaded

Residents reported electric scooters left blocking pathways, cars parked obstructing private driveways, and some individuals displaying inconsiderate behavior in the residential area. One resident living on Marina Boulevard stated that people were upset because their property and living spaces had been invaded.

Crowd Management Criticized

Many opinions suggested that crowd coordination and security control did not match the scale of the event. Some attendees noted that the Marina Green area had only two entry and exit points, causing bottlenecks. Near Fort Mason, entering and exiting crowds clashed, creating a "chokepoint"; some people had to navigate down the rocky area along the marina to escape. At one point, many shouted "go back" to ease pressure before the crowd gradually dispersed towards the Palace of Fine Arts.

Local media contacted the mayor's office, which redirected requests for comment to Red Bull. The event organizer has not yet responded.
