Texas Man Accused of Fatal Mall Shooting Over Financial Dispute, 2 Dead

A deadly shooting at the K-Towne shopping center in Carrollton, Texas, left two people dead and three others injured after a suspect allegedly sought revenge against business partners over a financial dispute.

According to court records cited by Fox 4 and the New York Post, the suspect, 69-year-old Seung Han Ho, is accused of pre-planning the attack to target the shopping center's owners and individuals involved in investment deals that caused him to lose money.

Authorities stated the incident began at the K-Towne commercial area, where Ho confronted four individuals: Sung Rae Cho, Olivia Kim, Yo Sung Kim, and Young Yoo. According to the affidavit, Ho stated he did not have money for rent but had brought a handgun.

Initial investigations show that Ho was previously persuaded by Young Yoo — the owner of the shopping center — and real estate broker Edward Schleigh to purchase a sushi restaurant at the plaza last summer for over $75,000. The two were also alleged to have encouraged him to invest further in real estate in Georgia.

When the deals failed, Ho repeatedly requested refunds but was unsuccessful. Investigative files also suggest that Olivia Kim once persuaded Yoo to increase the sushi restaurant's monthly rent by $2,000.

After a heated argument lasting several minutes, Ho allegedly confiscated the victims' phones and opened fire. Sung Rae Cho was fatally shot while running toward an emergency exit. Young Yoo and the two Kims were injured but are expected to survive.

The suspect then drove to an apartment complex about four miles from the shopping center to find Edward Schleigh. According to the investigation, Ho told police he knew Schleigh often left his apartment door unlocked. The suspect is accused of entering and shooting the broker twice, killing him.

Following the incident, Ho reportedly drove to an H-Mart supermarket to say goodbye to friends, as he intended to commit suicide. However, police apprehended him after a short pursuit outside the area.

Ho currently faces two counts of capital murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Under Texas law, a capital murder conviction can result in the death penalty.
