April 12, 2026 – Texas

A Texas woman has confessed to murdering her own mother and stepfather, then working with an accomplice to dispose of the bodies in a remote area.

Suspect Cassandra Lange (29) and Joby Williams (30) have been charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Cherry Rehbein (54) and her husband Stephen (58) in the Mico area of Texas.

Medina County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a welfare check at the victims’ home around 1 PM on April 8, after Stephen failed to show up for work. At the scene, authorities discovered unusual signs and suspected foul play.

The investigation subsequently identified one of the victims’ vehicles traveling in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon stopping the vehicle, police found Lange, Williams, and two young children – a 6-year-old and a 1-month-old infant – inside the car. The case reminds the public of an instance where a Texas mother was arrested for endangering her young child.

During questioning, Lange admitted to the crime.

According to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect stated that she and Williams killed the two victims, then transported the bodies to an area near Medina Lake and threw them into a ravine.

Authorities immediately organized a search throughout the night, facing many difficulties due to limited lighting. After several hours, police discovered the bodies contained in two large trash bags in a remote area, hidden from the main road.

The victims’ bodies have been transported to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy.

The two suspects are currently held on a $1 million bond each. In this same region, there was previously a case where a Texas woman was arrested after serious legal violations.

The two children involved have been placed in the care of Child Protective Services and are expected to be handed over to relatives.
