STEPHENS COUNTY, Georgia – Three individuals were arrested after authorities responded to reports of gunfire and a brawl at a residence near Skyline Drive, Toccoa.

According to the Stephens County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call around 12:48 PM regarding a shooting and altercation near Stephen Drive. Upon arrival, officers, in cooperation with the Toccoa Police Department, found two men struggling over a firearm.

Police reported that a brief altercation ensued as they intervened to separate the two individuals.

No One Struck by Gunfire

The initial investigation determined that at least one shot had been fired, but no one was struck by gunfire. One individual was detained at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital by Stephens County EMS for moderate injuries.

The firearm was recovered as evidence.

Drugs Discovered During Search

The scene was secured to facilitate obtaining a search warrant for the residence and a vehicle on the property. Narcotics investigators were dispatched after suspected drugs were found inside the home.

Around 3:31 PM, the search warrant was executed. Officials stated they seized:

  • 1.8 pounds of suspected marijuana packaged in multiple bags
  • 3 boxes of psilocybin-infused chocolate
  • Approximately 38 THC vape cartridges
  • A digital scale

Identities and Charges

The three individuals arrested are:

Xavier Collins, 17, of Toccoa – charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a pistol by someone under 18 years of age. Collins also faces three counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute and seven counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

Jonathan Mayfield, 21, of Toccoa – charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct.

Lateriya Hickman, 35, of Toccoa – charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute and seven counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

All three are currently held at the Stephens County Jail, awaiting a bond hearing before a judge.

The investigation remains ongoing.
