March 31, 2026 (New York Time) – Golfer Tiger Woods was found in possession of opioid painkillers while being arrested for driving under the influence following a rollover accident in Florida.

According to official reports, police discovered two hydrocodone pills in Woods' pocket after he crawled out of his overturned Land Rover in the Jupiter Island area on March 27.

Hydrocodone is a potent painkiller typically used to manage chronic pain.

When questioned, Woods stated that he had taken medication earlier that morning.

Police noted the following symptoms:

  • Bloodshot eyes and a glassy stare
  • Severely dilated pupils
  • Profuse sweating
  • Slow movements

Breathalyzer results showed no alcohol present, but Woods refused a urine test at the scene, similar to previous drugged driving incidents.

According to investigation records, the accident occurred when Woods looked down at his phone and adjusted the radio, failing to notice the vehicle ahead slowing down. This led to a collision and rollover, causing a traffic disturbance in the area.

He faces the following charges:

  • Driving under the influence causing property damage
  • Refusal to submit to testing

Police also documented Woods' medical history, which includes multiple prior surgeries, including back surgery and over 20 leg operations at a Florida hospital. At the scene, he was limping and wearing medical compression socks.

This marks the fourth time Woods has been involved in a vehicle accident, including a 2017 DUI and a severe 2021 crash in California.

The incident continues to raise questions regarding the athlete's ability to operate a vehicle amidst his health struggles and long-term medication use.
