Donald Trump has announced that the U.S. will implement a full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, issuing a stern warning to Iran following the collapse of negotiations.

Speaking on Truth Social, President Trump stated that the U.S. Navy will begin intercepting all vessels entering or leaving this strategic waterway, emphasizing:

“No ship paying illegal fees to Iran will be granted safe passage.”

He labeled Iran’s actions as “global extortion.”

⚠️ Blockade after failed negotiations

This move comes immediately after nearly 21 hours of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran in Pakistan ended without result.

Vice President JD Vance confirmed that the two sides failed to reach an agreement, with significant disagreements particularly regarding Iran's nuclear program.

President Trump stated that while other terms were close to a consensus, the nuclear issue “is the only thing that really matters.”

🌍 The world's strategic strait

The Strait of Hormuz is a transit route for more than 20% of the world's seaborne oil. The blockade and fee imposition by Iran have caused global oil prices to fluctuate sharply, threatening the energy security of many nations.

According to the U.S.:

  • Iran has deployed mines along the route
  • Exact locations remain unidentified
  • Vessels are being required to pay a fee of approximately $1 per barrel of oil to pass

Washington believes these fees are being used to fund economic recovery following previous military air strikes.
