President Trump declared he is “in no rush” to reach an agreement with Iran, affirming that the top priority for the United States remains ensuring Tehran does not possess nuclear weapons.
In an interview on Fox News’s “My View with Lara Trump,” President Trump stated that the negotiations are progressing in the direction Washington desires.
“Slowly but surely, we’re getting what we want,” he said. “If you rush, you can’t have a good deal.”
President Trump emphasized that the most crucial condition in any agreement with Iran is for Tehran to commit to not developing nuclear bombs.
“The only guarantee I need is that there will be no nuclear weapons. They have agreed to that,” he stated.
The US leader also warned that if Iran does not accept Washington’s demands in diplomatic negotiations, the situation could take a different turn.
“If it doesn’t work out this way, it will end in another way,” President Trump said.
Previously, he mentioned holding a meeting in the Situation Room at the White House to make a “final decision” regarding a potential agreement with Iran.
Beyond the nuclear issue, President Trump demanded that Iran fully open the Strait of Hormuz, waive fees, and ensure free two-way maritime passage.
He also referred to enriched uranium material buried deep underground after US B-2 bomber airstrikes 11 months ago. According to him, the US, in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will process and destroy this material.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth continued to stress that the Trump administration would only accept “a big deal” with Iran.
He warned that if negotiations fail, the US is ready to resort to military action.
“They can sort this out through a deal right now… or face the Pentagon,” he told reporters.
