WASHINGTON, D.C. – Donald Trump indicated the possibility of reaching a temporary ceasefire agreement in Ukraine following a phone call with Vladimir Putin.

Speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump confirmed a “very good” exchange focusing on both Ukraine and Iran, while suggesting a ceasefire could be announced in the near future, potentially coinciding with Victory Day next month.

“I proposed a small ceasefire with Ukraine, and I think he might do it,” President Trump said, adding that both sides could reach a resolution soon.

He emphasized that the immediate goal is a temporary ceasefire to pave the way for a complete end to the war, which has lasted over four years—a conflict considered the bloodiest in Europe since World War II.

According to President Trump, the reconciliation process was previously stalled due to tensions related to Iran, but reaching a temporary ceasefire in the Middle East has opened opportunities to resume negotiations on Ukraine.

However, the level of commitment from the Russian side remains unclear. Previously, President Putin announced a three-day ceasefire following similar discussions, but it did not gain consensus from Ukraine.

In addition to the Ukraine issue, President Putin also proposed that Russia participate in processing approximately 1,000 pounds of enriched uranium from Iran. President Trump stated he rejected this proposal and urged Russia to focus on ending the hostilities in Ukraine.
