ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The Twelve Midtown Hotel at Atlantic Station, Atlanta, was ordered to immediately evacuate on February 20, 2026, after the building's water system was deemed unsafe for use.
According to a FOX 5 Atlanta report, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) issued the evacuation order because the building's water supply was no longer safe.
Power Outage Cripples Water System
Authorities stated that a severe power failure caused the hotel's entire water filtration and pumping systems to cease operation, making the water unusable for daily activities.
AFRD mandated that all residents and guests vacate the building until the system is fully restored. In a statement, Atlanta fire officials confirmed they are coordinating with building management and utility providers to ensure everyone's safety.
Georgia Power Confirms System Normal Operation
A Georgia Power representative stated that the company's electrical system is operating normally and no faults were recorded from equipment under their management.
According to Georgia Power, electricity can only be reconnected once the building owner completes necessary repairs and confirms readiness to receive power. The company affirmed its readiness to restore service as soon as notification is received.
What Atlantic Station Management Says
Atlantic Station management stated that the evacuation was entirely precautionary, carried out under the direction of fire officials. Atlantic Station emphasized that the incident is not related to the general infrastructure of the entire complex.
Cause of Incident Not Yet Clear
Officials have not yet released the specific cause of the power failure — whether it was due to internal equipment malfunction within the building or related to the broader power grid system.
The hotel must remain vacant until a safe water supply is fully restored and confirmed safe by authorities.
