PEACHTREE CITY, Georgia – Police arrested two women involved in a theft at a Lululemon store in Peachtree City; the group is accused of bringing children along to avoid police pursuits.

According to the Peachtree City Police Department, the two suspects are Jaquinta Brady and Ebony Hammond, both from Louisiana.

Investigators said the group committed two thefts at the same Lululemon store within 24 hours. The suspects are believed to be members of an organized retail theft ring operating in several states across the Southeastern U.S., including Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

Store security personnel spotted the suspects cutting anti-theft devices and concealing merchandise amidst a trend of increasingly complex theft in the U.S. Police quickly surrounded the suspected getaway vehicle before the group could leave the scene.

Inside the vehicle were a 7-year-old child and a 16-year-old teenager accompanying the suspects. Police noted that some retail theft groups bring children along to discourage law enforcement from engaging in high-speed chases.

According to Lieutenant Chris Hyatt, the suspects had been involved in police pursuits just days before appearing at the store in Peachtree City.

Brady and Hammond are currently held at the Fayette County Sheriff's Office without bond, while authorities actively search for the remaining suspect in the ring. The investigation continues to expand to identify other members of the multi-state retail theft ring.

Officials have not yet released the total value of the merchandise seized in the two incidents.
