LOS ANGELES, California – The death certificate of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been updated to reflect an “unknown” pregnancy status at the time of her death.
Initial records stated “not pregnant,” but this was amended on April 22 to “unknown.”
The case involves David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, who is accused of murdering the victim and disposing of her body.
According to court documents, the suspect began messaging the victim when she was 11 years old and established a relationship when she was 13, which is below the legal age of consent in California.
Prosecutors stated that the suspect had previously exchanged messages with the victim regarding pregnancy and abortion while they were involved at that age.
From a legal standpoint, if the victim was pregnant at the time of her death, the suspect could face additional serious charges.
The victim's body was discovered months later in a vehicle owned by the suspect in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors allege the incident occurred following a dispute when the victim threatened to go public with information that could affect the suspect's career.
The suspect currently faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and offenses involving a minor.
The suspect has denied the allegations in court.
