U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Roma International Bridge in Texas discovered and seized a significant amount of methamphetamine valued at over $1 million.

Incident Details
  • The incident occurred on Sunday, March 8th, at the Roma Port of Entry.
  • A 22-year-old man, a U.S. citizen driving a 2013 Ford Explorer, was referred for secondary inspection.
  • Following a non-intrusive inspection system scan and a thorough search, authorities discovered 53 packages of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle. This offense is as serious as the recent seizure of over 1 kg of methamphetamine where the suspect faced a long prison sentence in Georgia.
  • Total weight: approximately 121.34 pounds (over 55 kg).

Authorities estimate the street value of the drugs to be around $1,084,728. This represents a significant achievement, similar to the seizure of over $100,000 worth of drugs on major transportation routes.

Official Response
Andres Guerra, Port Director for the Roma Port of Entry, stated:
“This seizure demonstrates our frontline officers' ability to use their experience, training, and technology to detect and stop large quantities of narcotics.”

Investigation
  • Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested the driver.
  • The criminal investigation is expanding and may be linked to organized crime gang crackdowns in border regions.
