Vice President JD Vance announced on Sunday morning that negotiations between the United States and Iran have concluded without an agreement, and the US delegation has since departed Pakistan.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Vance stated that the two sides held decisive negotiations with Iran in Pakistan for approximately 21 hours, but failed to reach an agreement acceptable to both parties.
He mentioned that the US side had presented the best possible proposal to Iran, though he declined to disclose specific details regarding the content of the discussions.
He also noted that Iran refused to accept the conditions set by the US, including the cessation of its nuclear program. Previously, the Vice President had delivered tough messages from President Trump aimed at pressuring Tehran regarding nuclear control issues.
Following the press conference, the US delegation left Islamabad for Washington, amid growing concerns that the US may soon bolster its forces in the Middle East now that diplomatic efforts have failed.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media claimed that US demands were what obstructed the two sides from reaching an agreement.
