US military E-6B Mercury nuclear command aircraft appeared on a flight path toward the Middle East amid sharply rising military tensions in the region. Flight tracking data and analysis from defense observers noted at least two of these aircraft operating in recent days.

The E-6B Mercury, belonging to the US Navy, serves as an airborne strategic command center. The aircraft maintains communication with US nuclear forces, including ballistic missile submarines and land-based missile launch systems. In the event that ground-based command systems are attacked, this aircraft takes over the task of transmitting strategic orders, especially as parties are concerned about the risk of depleting US weapon stockpiles if a large-scale conflict breaks out.

The flights take place at a time when the Middle East is recording numerous military activities involving the US, Israel, and Iran. The deployment of strategic command aircraft is often linked to the goal of ensuring continuous military operational capability in all situations, similar to previous campaigns where US B-2 squadrons attacked enemy missile bases. Additionally, the civilian situation has become complicated as thousands of US citizens trapped in the conflict are seeking evacuation.

There has been no official announcement from the Pentagon regarding the deployment of E-6B Mercury aircraft to the Middle East. Analysts suggest this activity reflects preparations in case the regional security situation continues to escalate, particularly after Israel carried out strikes on key targets that brought tensions to a peak.
