DECATUR, Georgia – A United States Postal Service employee died at the scene following a traffic accident on Monday evening, April 27, 2026, in DeKalb County.
According to the DeKalb County Police Department, authorities received a report at 7:11 p.m. at the intersection of Larkspur Terrace and Iris Lane. Upon arrival, police found the USPS mail truck overturned on its side at the scene.
Initial investigation indicates that a vehicle turning from Iris Lane onto Larkspur Terrace collided with the mail truck, causing the vehicle to lose control and flip over.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Tinisha Cade, according to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
In a statement, the USPS expressed deep sadness over the loss of a team member and extended condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. The agency stated it would provide counseling services for employees at the main Decatur post office in the coming days.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
