Ricardo Orizaba-Zendejas faces up to 25 years in prison for drug and weapon trafficking in Washington. His organization is linked to the murder of a couple and their unborn child.
WASHINGTON — A Mexican national, Ricardo Orizaba-Zendejas, has been convicted on drug and weapons charges following an investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) San Diego in coordination with law enforcement partners.
According to court records, Orizaba-Zendejas faces up to 25 years in prison for charges related to
drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.
Authorities stated that he worked for a
drug trafficking organization based in Yakima, Washington. This organization is allegedly linked to the fatal shooting of a husband and his pregnant wife. The two victims were believed to be members of the organization who had expressed their intention to leave and had spoken with federal agencies prior to the incident.
During a search of Orizaba-Zendejas's residence, authorities
seized drugs, an AR-15 rifle, and various other pieces of evidence.
The case is considered part of an effort to dismantle organized drug trafficking networks operating in the
Pacific Northwest region. Federal agencies stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify other involved individuals.
